LEARNING STRATEGIES autism TEENS SEX EDUCATION AT THE SCHOOL
Adolescents with autism is part of a society that has its own peculiarities. This phenomenon occurs in individuals with autism due to disturbances in biological neural conditions (Neuro - Biological Disorder). Research shows the number of people with autism increased from year to year. The study of autism as other individual studies can not be separated from the components of human life as individuals. One of the components in question, among others, individual attention to sex. Research shows that individuals with special needs (Special Needs Individuals), in this case autism, also occur more or less the same progression with other normal individuals, especially in the development of puberty. Many examples in which adolescents with autism who do not understand matters related to sex. For example, a woman in elementary autism, never once during menstruation, she brought the pads and run around. This event is certainly not appropriate for most teens in general. Based on the description of the sexual development of adolescents with autism it can be concluded that the sexual behavior of autistic individuals was not compromised, but their expressions that reflect the immaturity of social and emotional development. Generally people assume that the socialization of sex education is still a taboo subject and society closed in Indonesia. To avoid things that are not desirable, then the need for sex education for teens with autism to appropriate learning strategies considering the treatment of children with autism is quite severe. Learning strategies for autistic adolescents sex education is needed because at the basic school level sex education can be an important basis for their sexual patterns in the future.
The formulation of the problem this paper is: How can sex education learning strategies for autistic children at the elementary level on basic level, intermediate level, and level of transition / advance? Objectives to be achieved in the writing of this paper is to develop learning strategies for autistic children sex education at the elementary level on basic level, intermediate level, and level of transition / advance. This paper is expected to provide benefits for parents of autistic children, educators in schools, communities, and for the government to get knowledge about learning strategies to sex education at primary school level as well as increasing awareness and concern for sex education for teenagers with autism.
Some subjects need to be explored, among others, on the understanding autistic adolescents, some of the factors that cause a person can experience keautisan among the biological factors such as genetic factors, disturbances in brain function (Neuro - Biological Disorder) is precisely in the temporal lobe gyrus temporalis superior, systems limbic, amygdala, hippocampus, and cerebellum. While psychological factors that can cause a teenager who has the potential keautisan become autistic is a visual electronic media because of the interaction between adolescents and parents on the wane. Some characteristics of persons with autism are experiencing a slow development of communication, problems in social interaction, sensory issues, play patterns that are different from normal individuals, and hipoaktif or hyperactive behavior, and emotional development is slow.
In adolescent sexuality development of autism also occur more or less the same with individuals who did not have developmental disorders. They experience emotional changes, physically and socially similar. Strategy autistic teen sex education elementary school level is a component to consider in the use of the delivery strategy, namely instructional media, learners interaction with the media, and form (structure) of teaching and learning. Sex education for children with autism should include the level of communication, social skills, cognitive skills, conceptual abilities, and other aspects of personal functioning.
Learning strategies for autistic children sex education is an educational method in the interaction between learners and educators in developing the ability to optimally with regard to sexuality which is an integration of feelings, needs and desires that shape a person's unique personality, and reveal a person's tendency to be male or female .
Sex education learning strategies in children with autism is, it must use the appropriate method so that the children really understand what to do. The strategy is given also stratified according to level of development of autistic adolescents who were divided into three levels, namely basic, intermediate, and transition or advance. Due to the development of children with autism experience some disturbance, then the sex education in general include: human reproductive system, relations between men and women, including ethics in the mix, moral values and religion, gender roles, gender selection, sexual activity, including the non-sex , contraception, disease transmitted by sexual intercourse, pregnancy and related matters (abortion, adoption, care for infants or children, parenting, etc.), refusing sex is free, and the problem of sexual deviations. Recommended to parents, among others, to observe patterns of change and physical and emotional development of children with autism early, especially when the child enters puberty. Things that teachers can do is to inculcate moral norms prevailing in their neighborhood. Society as a forum for neighborhood children with autism to develop socially should be more concerned when a teenager with autism are no problems, and care for, in a sense ready to provide assistance when needed. While the government needs to provide policies that are providing services and facilities and provide an umbrella of law or legislation are clearly related sex education and also protection against acts of criminal sexual assault of adolescents with autism.
